Rules of the quantum world seem to say that a cat can be both alive and dead at the same time and a particle can be in two places at once. And that particle is also a wave; everything in the quantum world can described in terms of waves-or entirely in terms of particles. These interpretations were all established by the end of the 1920s, by Erwin Schrödinger, Werner Heisenberg, Paul Dirac, and others. But no one has yet come up with a common sense explanation of what is going on. In this concise and engaging book, astrophysicist John Gribbin offers an overview of six of the leading interpretations of quantum mechanics. Gribbin calls his account 'agnostic,' explaining that none of these interpretations is any better-or any worse-than any of the others. Gribbin presents the Copenhagen Interpretation, promoted by Niels Bohr and named by Heisenberg; the Pilot-Wave Interpretation, developed by Louis de Broglie; the Many Worlds Interpretation (termed 'excess baggage' by Gribbin); the Decoherence Interpretation ('incoherent'); the Ensemble 'Non-Interpretation'; and the Timeless Transactional Interpretation (which theorized waves going both forward and backward in time). All of these interpretations are crazy, Gribbin warns, and some are more crazy than others-but in the quantum world, being more crazy does not necessarily mean more wrong.
From all the sides you are surrounded completely by scientific inventions which came into being due to the theories discovered by scientists a long time ago. Science, however, is a vast topic which is further divided into several prances of which on...
Have you ever wondered where we come from—like where we really come from and what we are made of? Have you ever wondered if, let’s say, teleportation is possible, or if we will ever learn more about the Universe than we already do? Have ...
There are many fine scripts of quantum chemistry and physics in print at this time. So the question can be raised as to why we would write another script, especially one focusing on the smaller discipline of quantum chemistry. When we began this pro...
The history of quantum physics can never be complete without a cursory look at the diverse works of various scientists, both in the field of quantum physics and quantum chemistry. The early twentieth century marked the origin of the quantum phy...
Quantum mechanics is widely considered to be the scientific theory that is one's best choice for the fundamental and universal explanation of the physical world. The conceptual structure used in this theory varies dramatically from that of classical...
Quantum theory is the most revolutionary discovery in physics since Newton. This book gives a lucid, exciting, and accessible account of the surprising and counterintuitive ideas that shape our understanding of the sub-atomic world. It does not disg...
Have you always wanted to understand Quantum Theory, but was afraid of the math?Relax. I have written this book so that you can understand the theory without all the hard to understand equations and science speak.Once you understand quantum mechanic...
Scientists from Australia have found the smallest of the transistors recently. It is made by deliberately placing two atoms so closely. Then the university of Cambridge invention of the entangled LEDs is another revolutionary finding in the recent t...
?? Are you looking for the truth about quantum physics? ??Do you feel like quantum physics is intangible, unintelligible and unattainable? If you’ve answered yes to the above questions, then you are definitely in the right place and holding th...
