The ketogenic diet is aimed at letting your body use fats for energy instead of carbohydrates. The carbohydrates we eat are broken down into glucose (sugar). The glucose enters the bloodstream, after which it is transported to the body cells. These are, for example, the brain and muscle cells. With the ketogenic diet, you get almost no carbohydrates. This has the consequence that there is no or very little glucose in the body. Your body needs this but cannot get enough energy from the glucose for essential functions and other activities. Your body, therefore, switches to fats instead of glucose. 

One successful lifestyle routine any particular one can follow is usually to avoid dehydration. You need a constant way to obtain water in the body to the diet to operate effectively. A minimum of five glasses in a day can be considered a good insurance policy for one's body. The main aim of this book was to teach you the basics of the ketogenic diet and give you simple recipes.
