During an intense struggle in my life, I became more aware and more submissive to God's will. I was seeking a deeper relationship with Him. And for the first time in my life, I made myself open and vulnerable to the teaching of the Holy Spirit. God had already put me on a trajectory of herding sheep and learning about them. He used my time in the sheep fields to teach me how my relationship with my ewes paralleled the relationship between me as a sheep with God and the Good Shepherd, Jesus. God gave me the opportunity to see things with sheep in the pasture that people with years of experience tending sheep may never see. After each experience, the LORD would cause my heart and spirit to reflect on what I had observed. In reflection I began to understand how it corresponded with my personal relationship to Him. I felt God was holding a mirror to my face -- convicting my soul through self-examination. The Holy Spirit also called to mind scriptures to emphasize and reinforce the lessons learned. My heart and soul became full of joy and peace as my eyes were opened to the depth of love and care God provides for me and His flock. I journaled each scenario along with scriptures for months on end. Then, God laid it on my heart to share these lessons with fellow Christians and non-believers to help them relate to and know why we need Jesus, the Good Shepherd. I Am A Sheep?!?! is my response to God's calling.
